It’s that time of the year again! The Lords were at NYCC 2025 this year, and we are excited to discuss the Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game reveal! Announced at a huge Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s 20th anniversary panel, this 1v1 fighter is releasing in Summer 2026.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game – Reveal Trailer
Developed by Gameplay Group International Inc., this will be a 1v1 fighter honoring the legacy of Avatar. Featuring hand-drawn visuals, a roster of twelve iconic characters, and a single-player campaign, it’s one to keep an eye on.
According to the game’s Steam listing, it will also feature cross-play and ‘best in class’ net code, ensuring fights are smooth across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo platforms.
Breaking the Cycle – The Roster
The roster, as of the reveal trailer, includes the following characters.
- Avatar Aang (Last Airbender)
- Katara (Last Airbender)
- Sokka (Last Airbender)
- Toph (Last Airbender)
- Zuko (Last Airbender)
- Azula (Last Airbender)
- Avatar Korra (Legend of Korra)
While more characters are left to be revealed for the base roster, more will come to the game via seasonal updates, according to the Steam listing. As a fan of the series, I hope characters like Avatar Kyoshi from Last Airbender and Tenzen from Legend of Korra find their way to the roster.
A New Legend – Story Mode
One of the big features revealed in the Steam Listing is a single-player campaign. Telling an original story and the voice cast reprising their roles (based on the trailer), I am quite excited.
Could we see the Last Airbender cast have proper interactions with The Legend of Korra crew? Both casts are a generation apart from one another, and seeing child Aang team up with Korra is awesome. In addition, seeing characters like Toph talk with her future daughters could be exciting as well.
The biggest room for potential has to be other Avatar’s like Roku and Kyoshi, being either playable fighters or having an active role in the story, talking with their future descendants.
Closing Thoughts on Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game
While the franchise has appeared in video games, both in stand-alone games and being featured in Nicktoons crossovers, a fighting game is an exciting prospect.
As the series features amazing fight scenes, beautiful animation, and a stunning score, a fighting title is a natural fit for the ever-growing Avatar Legends franchise.
Stay tuned for future updates from Lords of Gaming as Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, and for our additional NYCC 2025 coverage over the coming days!
