Octopath Traveler 0: How to Farm Caits and Octopuffs the Fastest

When playing through Octopath Traveler 0, like every normal JRPG, the grind is going to be long and tedious to level up. Obviously, the game offers a lot of ways to increase XP and JP gains. But similar to the Dragon Quest series, there are some enemies that can be your go-to farming method to level up quickly. In this series, these take the form of Caits and Octopuff Travelers. But if you have been playing for a while, they may not have shown up a single time to get a taste of the crazy amount of XP and JP they offer. So, how can you get them to spawn more quickly?

In collaboration with Gaming Addict from The Iron Lords Podcast, below will be the best method to get them to spawn quicker, and take advantage of their rewards better!

How to Farm Caits and Octopuffs Faster in Octopath Traveler 0

For starters, you will need to recruit Tressa, the merchant from Rippletide. Afterwards, you will need to have the ability to “Inquire Further”. You will need to give her 2 items, the “Tressalad” and the “Cait Furball”. To get the first item, you will need to spawn Caits and Octopuffs quickly in Octopath Traveler 0. That being the “Lucky Coin”, which can be equipped on any character.

Next, you will need to go to “Snowshard Grotto” after unlocking the ability to open Blue Chests. The Blue Chest in there will give you an equippable passive called “Rare Monster Mastery”. Both of these items will boost the chance of these rare enemies spawning the fastest.

Now comes the juicy part, taking advantage of it. You will need to have Ludo, the shopkeep from Wishvale, and H’aanit in your party to do this. When you encounter one (and it doesn’t run away on the first turn), you will need to have H’aanit use Ensnare to make sure your party can attack it as much as possible. Save Ludos move until the second turn in any given encounter. You will need to use Ludos Negotiation ability with 2 boosts at least to maximize how much XP and JP you will get from the kill. From here, simply mix in all the extra boosters from items and passives to make sure you farm the most efficiently in Octopath Traveler 0. I personally recommend doing this method in the final area, as you get about 20k XP from this consistently.
