I don’t know about you, but I have been very excited (and also very patient) in anticipation of the release of the Mega Man Starforce Legacy Collection. The game series was with me when I had nothing but a Nintendo DS to play throughout middle school. Sure, it’s nostalgia, but as far as I can tell, the gameplay system the Starforce games had was never replicated, as we saw with even the Battle Network series.
To say that March 27th can’t come fast enough is an understatement, for me especially. That being said, as someone who plans to get it on PC, some awesome news popped up regarding the release. As someone who regularly uses Valve’s Steam Deck gaming handheld, the game has just been confirmed to be Verified for the device. But what does this mean?
What Verified Means For Mega Man Starforce Legacy Collection on the Steam Deck
As the name implies, it will run perfectly on Valve’s Steam Deck gaming handheld. Considering these games are from the DS era, they shouldn’t have any problems performance-wise. But as for features in the Mega Man Starforce Legacy Collection, outside of it obviously containing every entry in the series, it will have a few unique things to look forward to. Including, according to an article from Rockman Corner, a very interactive main menu. You can press a button to watch interactions between Geo and Omega-Xis. You can also freely pan the camera around the field in the game. A niche feature, sure, but it’s a welcome addition.

In the game’s trailers, there were a lot of improvements outlined. Such as the ability to move around faster, encounter enemies more, and, of course, use certain cards in the game that you normally had to go to events to obtain. For example, the Tribe King card in the second game. There are also difficulty settings and other features players can look forward to.
Whether it’s pure nostalgia or your first time playing it, the Mega Man Starforce Legacy Collection is going to be worth playing, if it’s on PC, your Steam Deck, or your console of choice.
The game will launch on March 27th for $39.99 on all platforms. This includes PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch 1|2, PC via Steam, now Verified for Steam Deck, and the recent Xbox consoles.
