Off the Back of Borderlands 4
The big news of Grand Theft Auto comes off the back of the Borderlands 4 PlayStation State of Play. Take 2 and Gearbox shows off the title and announces that the game is pushing up by around 10 days. Borderlands 4’s previous release date is September 23rd, 2025, and this original date coincides with Marathons initial launch.
Grand Theft Speculation
While gamers around the world speculate that Borderlands 4 moved up because of the heavily anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI release. In a tweet posted by Randy Pitchford. He states that “Borderlands 4 shipping early is 100% the result of confidence in the game and the development trajectory… The decision is literally 0% about any other products”. According to Randy Pitchford, Borderlands 4 release moving up by 11 days is due to the game progressing smoothly.
New release date for Grand Theft Auto 6
After a ton of rumors and speculations. Rockstar announced via a Twitter post that Grand Theft Auto VI will not launch in 2025. Rockstar graced the entire industry with the news that Grand Theft Auto 6 will now release on May 26th, 2026. This is around a 7-month delay from the previously rumored October release date.
I know this news is heartbreaking for everyone who has been waiting over 12 years for a new entry in the beloved Grand Theft Auto series. By the time Grand Theft Auto VI does release it will have been over 13 years since the last entry. This news is disappointing for long time fans, but this delay it excites me to see if GTA 6 will release on the switch 2 alongside the ps5 and Xbox Series consoles!
Massive Sigh for other Devs
The bright side is this news comes as a big sigh of relief for any publisher or developer looking to drop their games in the latter half of 2025. So expect a ton of release dates to be announced soon for a bunch of video games now that we know the news of GTA 6’s delay. What do you think?
