Helldivers 2 is the fight for Democracy
Helldivers 2 launched back in early 2024 on PlayStation & PC. And on day one, it became a huge hit! But following the release of the game, they have made players go through a rollercoaster of emotions. It has had ups and downs, and the player base fluctuates, but Helldivers 2 has been trucking along by providing steady updates and new content for all those who want to stick around and fight for democracy.
Building up the Illuminate Army

Arrowhead has been building up to this moment since they added the Illuminate enemy type back in the December update. But here we are, six months later. The singularity is open, and the full Illuminate Army has its eyes on Super Earth.
So, what does this Galactic Emergency update bring to Helldivers 2? Let’s start with the new enemy types first. The first of these is an aerial enemy known as the Stingray: Jetfighters, and this enemy type fights the Helldivers on the ground with repeated and super deadly strafe runs. So pay attention to the skies!
The second new enemy type is the Crescent Overseer, which stays back and lobs projectiles in the skies, targeting the Helldivers.
The third and more flagrant enemy type is the Fleshmob. This one is large and rampages towards the divers, and when near, flails its limbs, doing heavy damage.
New Weapon Customizations in Helldivers 2
The killer part of this update is the Weapon Customization. With this, players can customize the attachments on the primary weapons. The number of customizable options, however, varies depending on the weapon. The primaries that have the most options are the following: Optics, under barrel, Muck, and Magazine. The weapons now have levels to earn, and leveling the weapons up allows for more attachments to be purchased via the requisition slips.

On top of this, players can now change the skin on the weapons as well. Adding to the customizability. There are three different configs that players can save to cycle through, and very cheekily, they mention that weapon customization for side arms may come in the future.
Changes to Bullet Drag, Bullet Spread & Weapon Sway in Helldivers 2
The last major change with this patch is the changes to Bullet Spread, Bullet Drag, and Weapon Sway. For Bullet Spread, Arrowhead states that they intend to reduce the overall spread of the bullets being fired from weapons aside from shotguns. This makes semiautomatic and automatic weapons far more accurate. The bullet drag refers to how fast the bullet that is shot loses its speed. This change primarily affects Pistols and SMGs, making them less effective over long distances.
The final change to the weapons is the weapon sway. This one is more of a philosophy shift for Arrowhead making the guns feel more realistic. Assault rifles are as accurate as they are in real life. And if you are more of a stationary player, hunkering down and mowing enemies, your weapons will not sway as much. But if you are a more mobile player then expect your weapons to sway more. And of course, lighter weapons such as sidearms will have more sway. And heavier weapons, such as the primaries, will have less sway. But attachments can also change all of these values.
Final Notes on Helldivers 2’s Huge New Patch
There are a ton of smaller tweaks and balance changes that come with this patch, some of those being changes to the grenades, or enhancing fire damage. Click here to see the full list of changes!

As of writing this, Helldivers 2 has seen a pretty big influx of players, sitting at a 24-hour peak at 104k. So the game seems to be in good hands with more content and enemies on the way. The Illuminate have a target, and we may even get to fight on Super Earth itself! Will you be diving back into the fight for democracy? Let us know in the comments below.
