This October, it is looking very stacked in terms of game releases. Between game’s like Keeper, Ninja Gaiden 4, and even Arc Raiders, it is turning out to be quite a delectable banquet for gamers worldwide. But Obsidian is not gonna be left out in the rain that month, instead they are going to round out their year with not only Avowed, and the upcoming Grounded 2, but with their marque true RPG The Outer Worlds 2. At the Xbox games showcase last week, Obsidian lifted the veil on the game and showed off the many ways its being improved. From silly perks, crazy skills and sick gunplay, to improved RPG mechanics and ways to approach missions, the game is upping to the ante.
But what would does it actually feel like to play? For the wider world, we have to wait, but for the Iron Lords Podcast? They got to play it early, and Lords of Gaming’s CEO Lord Cognito spoke on his experience with the upcoming RPG, here are some takeaways from his hands-on impressions!
Exclusive Gameplay Preview for The Outer Worlds 2
For starters, it was a very short demo with a curated character given to Lord Cognito. This led to some troubles with his test for stealth gameplay. Where he was not able to perform instant melee takedowns from behind. But, similar to how the The Outer Worlds 2 dedicated direct showcased, there will be perks to ensure you can perform multiple takedowns in rapid succession. The character he was given, was more focused on general confrontations. Which, he very much enjoyed the improved gunplay for said confrontations.

The three weapons he showed off in his gameplay demo were as follows. A three-barreled shotgun that freezes foes, an electrical mini-gun, and a normal fiery rifle with a scope. Each gun looked catered to showcase the elemental damage types for the game. The gunplay felt smooth to him, akin to something like Destiny 2. But going alongside the gameplay is the customization, and subsequently, the companions. He said that the skill tree for the player character was expansive. As well as showing a more streamlined skill tree for his companions. Similar to the original game you can still call upon your companions for special ability usage.
