PlayStation State of Play – September 2025 Round-Up

It’s that time again, with PlayStation having a major State of Play event. Revealing many exciting reveals for PlayStation platforms, here’s a round-up covering all the reveals, big and small.

Marvel's Wolverine

Saros – Gameplay Trailer

Kicking off the State of Play was Housemarque’s Saros. Revealing gameplay for the first time, it looks similar to Returnal but with unique biomes, abilities, and more. Saros releases on March 20th, 2026.

Following the State of Play, Sony broke down the trailer in a lengthy PS Blog post, saying the following about the gameplay mechanics revealed in the trailer:

For our first look at gameplay we wanted to show real and unedited action gameplay from Saros, and then layer by layer detail some of the new elements we have added on top of Returnal’s award winning third-person action. Our goal with these new elements has been to add more depth to our gameplay by adding a wider variety of tools. Arjun’s Soltari advanced combat suit allows him to dash, melee, jump, and more. At the start of every run you will select your loadout from a mix of  Soltari human weaponry and Carcosan alien weaponry. In this video, Arjun is using the Soltari Phosphorous Shotgun to defend himself and melt the hostile machines housed in the lost ancient city. As you can see from our extended gameplay, you can expect spectacular bullet patterns from enemies, and brutal weapons to use which fuel the sci-fi power fantasy.

Zero Parades – For Dead Spies

Coming from ZA/UM, the studio behind the critical darling Disco Elysium, is their latest narrative-driven RPG. Releasing on PlayStation 5 in 2026, you can learn more about the title via the PlayStation Blog article, which goes over the title’s deep RPG elements.

To illustrate with an example from the trailer: you are being tailed. You only have time to react to the ongoing situation and hopefully worm your way out of it. It begins by time slowing down to a pause and your highly trained eye showing you your options. Do you try to hide in a crowd and lose the tail that way? Or do you take a risky jump and pray that they don’t dare follow? Neither option is right or wrong, but you will have to live with the consequences either way.

Flight Simulator 2024 – Releasing on PlayStation 5

Joining Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War: Reloaded is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Releasing on December 8th for PlayStation 5, the trailer demonstrates impressive visuals running on PlayStation 5 Pro and will feature full support for PS VR2.

Following the State of Play, Sony released a PlayStation Blog post. It reveals new features coming to the PlayStation 5 release and comments on implementing PS VR2 support, saying the following:

Simmers on PS5 will test their aviation skills in some of the most visually stunning and technically detailed aircraft with accurate aerodynamics fully flight-tested by real pilots. PS VR2 owners will be able to experience the entire game through their headset and Sense controllers with a free update that will be available in 2026.

Battlefield 6 Trailer

Battlefield 6 appeared at the State of Play, highlighting the game’s bombastic single-player campaign. You can enter the game’s massive warzones for both single and multiplayer action on October 10th. You can learn more about the game’s single-player elements here via the PlayStation Blog post.

Wolverine – Gameplay Trailer

Closing out the State of Play is the long-awaited gameplay reveal for Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games. Following their fantastic work from the Spider-Man games and decades-long work on the Ratchet & Clank series, the studio tackles another legendary Marvel hero.

Insomniac says the following on creating an experience honoring Logan, with the game set for release on PlayStation 5 platforms in Fall 2026.

We aim to deliver the ultimate Wolverine fantasy built on Insomniac staples like fast, fluid, and ferocious combat; exhilarating, action-packed set pieces; robust accessibility features; and a gripping story that taps into the core tenets of one of the most compelling comic book characters of all-time. We’re breaking new ground with Wolverine, yes, but our penchant for telling stories about heroes overcoming colossal odds is as strong as ever. We’re eager to explore Logan’s story with you and tap into his signature spin on heroism, which is much darker and more brutal than you might expect from Insomniac.
