In Octopath Traveler 0, it is a long ending, with a long final act. When playing through the game, there is going to be a normal route with several different boss fights (as you would come to expect from JRPGs in general). But there is an alternate ending to the game. One that is very secretive and very rewarding. In fact, it is needed for 2 different achievements/trophies. Below will be a very spoiler-filled guide. Only continue reading if you have done the normal path for the game’s ending!
How to Unlock the True Ending in Octopath Traveler 0
For starters, make sure to do some preparation on your end. This is because the final fight will be very reliant on some very key factors. First, make sure everyone (and I do mean everyone) is at least level 70, fully geared with all skills and ultimate unlocked. Also, make sure you recruit every single character before doing this route.
Now, to start, go to the Flamebringers Shrine near Wishvale. Interact with the blue flame in the second room after teleporting. You will be prompted to fight a new boss that gives you a new temporary path action.
After doing this, go to the Gates of Orsa and interact with the blue save point object. Afterwards, go back to start the final fight again, and you will instead be taken back to the snow house. Go about it like normal, but use the new path action on the baby, then the woman, and then finally, Sazantos. After doing so, you will lose your ring and your ultimates temporarily. After watching the new cutscene and recruiting Sazantos, you can go back to the shrine you see above to get your ring back, then go back into the final fight.
This new final fight will be very confusing and may take multiple tries. But use party-wide revive skills, and Aelfric’s Favor from the main character to keep your party going in the fight. If a party member is not capable of doing anything you need, have them use a grape bunch to at least heal your party. When you beat the true final boss, you will be treated to an amazing finale and heartwarming ending.
