Throughout Dragon Quest 7: Reimagined, you are going to come across a lot of locked chests. In typical Dragon Quest fashion, you will need special keys to unlock a lot of these. The first key you will need is encountered partway through the story after you unlock the magic carpet. Below will be a quick guide on where to locate it!
Magic Key Location in Dragon Quest 7: Reimagined
This location is a requirement in the story. As mentioned previously, you will need the magic carpet after finding the mermaid moon in Wetlock. With that in mind, when you get to the mansion, go to the very top floor.
As you see below, above the bed here, and next to the 2 dressers, will be a normal red chest. This chest will contain the magic key. There are no waypoints or anything guiding you to this spot.
