It has been a little quiet on the Soulframe front when it comes to news from Digital Extremes. They did have a very thorough Devstream recently, going over its next update, Preludes 13, but from November onward, there haven’t been a whole lot of big updates for the game outside of the small holiday update near the end of December. That is, until today, when Digital Extremes launched a very beefy new update for the Preludes program. Preludes 13 contains a lot of quality-of-life improvements and some of the “big swings” to long-standing systems in the game. Here is everything you can expect from the update!
What to Expect in Preludes 13 in Soulframe
Let’s get the most notable part of the update out of the way. Preludes 13 completely reworked how Virtues work in the game. There are no longer point-based stats to allocate in your play sessions. They will instead be prisms that you can equip and will belong to loadouts. This allows for much easier allocation of what you want the virtues to do and take away the friction of switching to different loadouts and having your virtues be out of tune with your weapons and (now) armor. Below is an image from their recent Devstream on how that menu looks.

One of the other changes in this update includes the ability to customize your Envoys’ look to your liking. You will simply need to go to Verminia, after unlocking her in your Nightfold, to do so. You can also now go to the world trees in the open world and select Sparrow Tales instead of relying on RNG.

There are also new weapons and a new armor set to collect. As well as some new encounters to engage in. Such as the corrupted Bromius boss fight that will now randomly spawn in, like the corrupted Garren Rood boss fight does, alongside the ability to enter the metal Ode towers in a new siege-like encounter.
