Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Demo Available Now!

Nintendo pulled a surprise today, shadow dropping a free demo for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream that gives players their first hands-on taste of the Tomodachi series’ long-awaited return ahead of its April 16 launch. After more than a decade of silence, it’s a welcome way to put the game directly in people’s hands and let the chaos speak for itself.

What’s Included in the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Demo?

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream‘s demo lets players create up to three Mii characters and unlock a hamster costume, all of which carry over to the full game when it releases next month. The demo serves as a solid introduction to the refreshed Mii creation system, which received a significant overhaul in Living the Dream. Players can choose between a guided “Get Help” method or a fully manual “From Scratch” approach, with more customization options than any previous Tomodachi or Mii game has offered. Updated Mii models now feature ears for the first time, a refined cel-shaded look, and new hair and makeup options borrowed from Miitopia‘s Switch version. Even from just three Miis, players can start to get a feel for the personality customization system—adjusting quirks, energy levels, and voice to make each resident feel genuinely distinct before the full island experience opens up.

Final Thoughts

The Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo is a great way to get a taste before the game releases on April 16, 2026 on Nintendo Switch. For anyone who followed the Tomodachi series’ cult following on DS and 3DS, or who was intrigued by what looked like a meaningful step up from the original, there’s no reason not to jump in. Living the Dream already looked poised to be something special, and now you can see for yourself for free.
