Illfonic, the company behind Friday the 13th and Killer Clowns from Outer Space, brought a little piece of Haddonfield with them to PAX East 2026. Thanks to the people at Strode Realty, they were able to pick up and move the infamous Myers House, where, in 1963, a then 6-year-old Michael murdered his sister Judith on Halloween night, all the way to Boston. In doing so, they brought Michael with them.

They also brought the first publicly available demo for Halloween:TVG, due to release on August 8^th, 2026. I had a chance to stalk the citizens of Haddonfield.

After playing the demo and learning more about the game by talking to Miles Dompier and the team from Illfonic, I can honestly say that I am hyped for Halloween: The Video Game.

What is Halloween:TVG?

Halloween:TVG is a 1v4 online multiplayer experience, with one player embodying the relentless Michael Myers while four others fight to survive. IllFonic has done a great job in the gameplay, recreating the locations, ambiance, music, and art direction to reflect the film’s unmistakable, eerie tone and 1970s look. Every shadow, quiet street, and flicker of light feeds into an experience designed to recreate the dread that shaped a generation of horror.

The PAX East demo features the map, Haddonfield Heights, a deceptively quiet Midwestern neighborhood filled with modest single-story homes, fenced yards, dimly lit streets, and the abandoned Myers house.

Illfonic is attempting to reshape the 1v4 isometric horror game in a few key ways. These changes include the addition of NPC’s that the survivors can interact with, shaping how the game progresses, the ability to come back as a “Hero” if the player-controlled civilian is killed, and a single-player mode.

The first two items we will touch on in this article, the single-player information, will be revealed in a month or two by Illfonic.

I’ll Be Stalking, After Midnight

While at PAX, I had the opportunity to sit down with the demo and don the mask of “The Shape”, Michael Myers, himself. Once the gameplay started, I found myself stalking the streets of Haddonfield. It was like I was experiencing the movie through the killer’s eyes. The sounds, the music, it was all there, taking me back to 1978 when I was first introduced to Michael Myers. The normal movement and speed at which you walk, as Michael, felt “correct”. As I worked my way through the neighborhood. Checking houses. Turning off power boxes. Hunting the townspeople, I felt unstoppable.

Into The Shadows

While Michael isn’t known for his speed, recognizing that they needed to add abilities like Shape Jump and the related Shape Dash to amplify Michael’s mobility with hauntingly unpredictable results. In Shape Jump, Michael slips into the shadows to move around environments unseen. Not only does this increase Michael’s base movement speed, but it also provides access to other traversal options, including Shape Dash, which sends Michael lunging forward with violent momentum. 

However, that potency comes with a few major caveats: our masked antagonist can only enter and exit Shape Jump while in the cover of darkness or outside a resident’s line of sight. The light may provide temporary reprieve for the residents of Haddonfield, but Michael can work to remove sources of illumination by shutting off lights, cutting power, and even causing temporary Blackouts.

Halloween:TVG – Through His Eyes

Killer Sense allows players to step behind the mask and stalk the residents of Haddonfield. When using the skill and entering the first-person perspective, Michael becomes aggressively aware of his surroundings and the proximity of potential victims. By focusing on intended victims with murderous intent, Michael builds varying levels of stock. This aids him in identifying and tracking targets and opens increasingly satisfying options for executions. An effective killer always keeps their victims unaware of their presence until those final fatal moments

I’m A Survivor

The 5 survivors players can choose from are a varied group with different attitudes and personalities. From the football star, the young lady with dreams of a future far from Haddonfield, and the motorcycle-riding loner.

Survivors will have to avoid being killed by Michael while looking for the tools needed to escape with their lives. They will need to work together and pool their resources for the best possible outcome.

Haddonfield Is Not A Ghost Town

Haddonfield is also populated with NPCs that Michael can kill or the other players can rescue.

Not only will players try to survive the night and escape themselves, but they must also locate, warn, and lead townspeople to safety. Civilians will also have the ability to call the police for help. These actions are accomplished by succeeding at Quick Time Events.

Death Is Not The End

If Michael should stick it to you, or you to “it” you can still be of assistance to the remaining civilians through various means. You may return to Haddonfield as a Sheriff’s Deputy or the man who knows Michael better than anyone, Doctor Loomis. Loomis is voiced by Colin Mahan, who previously voiced the character in Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

Halloween:TVG, Not Like The Others

One of the worries I hear is that this game will be a clone of recent isometric horror survival games. Although there are similarities, Halloween brings some fresh additions to the genre. Including two that I’m excited for: the addition of the NPCs that players interact with, and a single-player mode. Illfonic will reveal more on the single-player mode in the coming months.
