Sonic Racing CrossWorlds has a few paid DLC packs, each covering a different franchise. One of the most surprising ones was the SpongeBob SquarePants DLC Pack. Based on a cartoon series that’s been around since 1999, many Sonic fans are likely fans of the yellow sponge’s adventures.
Does this DLC pack offer great value for die-hard fans of the iconic sponge? Or is it too soggy?

What’s Included

In the ‘SpongeBob SquarePants DLC Pack’, the following is included.
- SpongeBob (Handling) & Patrick (Power) Racers
- The Patty Wagon Car
- The Bikini Bottom Race Track (for Grand Prix, Time Trial, and Race Park modes)
- Two Songs (Bikini Bottom Track Theme & its Final Lap Rendition)
For online play, all paid DLC race tracks are accessible, regardless of whether you bought them or not.
Around Town – Bikini Bottom Course
Going around the iconic landmarks of Bikini Bottom is the highlight of this DLC pack. Crashing through the Krusty Crab, water racing across Goo Laggon, and the fun final-lap gimmick where fireballs rain down when the race concludes, it’s a great celebration of the show.
Other nice visual touches, such as SpongeBob and friends’ homes in the background, alongside Plankton using a robot mech from the video games to attack players, are awesome inclusions.
Overall, the race track is a welcome inclusion in the world of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds.
W for Wumbo – SpongeBob & Patrick DLC Characters
Joining from the undersea CrossWorlds are SpongeBob and Patrick. They are wonderfully designed, having expressive animation that matches their video game appearances from titles like SpongeBob Titans of the Tide or Nick All-Star Brawl 2.
The fact that I can race as SpongeBob and Patrick through Sonic Frontiers’ Kronos Island or Sonic Adventure 2’s Metal Harbor is so surreal, making their inclusion all the more enjoyable. It reminds me of the joy of seeing surprise guest characters in Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed.
A Silent Bob – No Voice Acting
Sadly, the duo’s iconic voices aren’t included in the DLC. They are muted, only having bubble sounds whenever they make actions. While this works for other DLC racers, SpongeBob and Patrick thrive on their witty one-liners and iconic catch phrases from the show.
It’s a Sandwich – Patty Waggon Vehicle
Lastly, SpongeBob and Patrick race in the iconic Patty Wagon from the SpongeBob SquarePants movie. It’s the perfect ride for the goofy goobers and racing in it as them or the other racers is hysterical.
Its stats are also pretty solid, making it a great handling car for those wanting to get around tight corners.
Closing Thoughts on the SpongeBob DLC Pack
Overall, the SpongeBob SquarePants DLC pack for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is the weakest release thus far. While the race course is fun to race on and many aspects of the show are well-realized for both the track and the racers, the lack of voice acting for SpongeBob and Patrick drags things down a little.
They are a fun addition to the world of Sonic Racing, but their inclusion could’ve been better.
