Xbox is putting players front and center more and more recently. It appears that they’ve started to really appreciate the player and want to give the player what they want. These Xbox achievement updates in 2026 feel like a direct reflection of that shift. (We’ve spoken about Nintendo Switch 2 needing achievements, period, here.)

Personalized Achievement Moments

One of the coolest new features is the proposed update to achievement visuals. They now personalize based on your preferred colors. The animations should feel more elaborate, making each unlock land with greater impact.

Greater Control Over Your Profile

Another big addition is the ability to hide games from your profile. Platforms like Valve Corporation’s Steam have allowed this for a while, so it’s great to finally see it here.

Let’s face it: sometimes you just don’t want certain games showing up, and that’s fine. This gives you real control over how your achievements page looks. It adds a level of granularity that wasn’t there before. You can now shape your gaming identity in a way that feels intentional and personal.

Celebrating 100% Completion

At the same time, the introduction of 100% completion highlights is a huge win, IMO. It’s always nice to see a fully completed game show up on your shelf. It feels like a badge of honor.

Players get it. We spend a lot of time on these games, and it’s nice to see that energy recognized. A completed game on display isn’t just a stat: it’s a story that’s proud to tell.

Sometimes I even buy collectibles for games I’ve beaten. This feels like a digital version of that. It gives those moments a place to live without taking up room.

Smarter Filtering, Better Navigation

Finally, they added new filtering options to the profile page. That might sound small, but it makes a big difference. Being able to quickly find completed or hidden titles makes everything easier to navigate. Anytime you improve filtering in a system like this, the overall experience gets better.

A Shift Toward Player-Centric Design & Rebuilding the Player Connection

All of this reflects a broader shift. These efforts show Xbox moving toward curating the player experience instead of just offering features. There’s a difference. Before, players were given tools. Now, those tools feel refined around how people actually engage with the platform.

It also feels like a step toward rebuilding that connection. Xbox missed things like a year-end roundup for 2025. Both Sony and Nintendo delivered on that, and moments like that matter. These updates feel like a response to that gap. They show that the player experience is being prioritized again.

Round-Up on the Xbox Achievement Updates 2026

These efforts that Xbox is making to achievement updates show that Xbox is trying to improve how players interact with the console. With the ecosystem expanding into the cloud and PC, this approach could carry across the entire platform.

It’s a more player-centric way of thinking, and honestly, it’s exciting.

I look forward to seeing it fully implemented. It’s currently live in the Xbox Insider app if you want to check it out. But not to everyone just yet. Here’s the link to the Xbox post highlighting this information.
