Mario Day – Release Dates and Switch Online Update

Games that previously had no release dates, The Thousand Year Door Remake and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, got them announced. The legendary RPG releases May 23rd, 2024 while the 3DS remaster releases June 27th. Both games will benefit from the new audience the Switch provides, with TTYD being the game many have been asking to play for a long time.

In addition, Switch Online will be getting a small update, with GBC Mario spin-offs releasing on March 12th, 2024. Mario Golf is included, which is an interesting choice. The game supported the GB Transfer Pack with the N64 version. With initial rumors of the N64 Emulator within the Switch Online Expansion Pack implying support for this accessory, there is the possibility Mario Golf will be the first game to take advantage of the feature.

Mario Movie 2 Is-A-Go

Nintendo and Illumination also revealed on Mario Day that a sequel to the first film is underway.

The film was a huge success commercially and many fans enjoyed the film’s take on the Mushroom Kingdom. With so much still left to adapt to the big screen, the films release on April 3rd, 2026 is a date to look forward too.

Some words from Nintendo via Official Twitter/X account are as follows;

This is Miyamoto. We are now creating a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. This film is planned for release in theaters on April 3rd, 2026 in the US and many other markets, and throughout the month of April in other territories. [1/2]

We’ll let you know the details once we’re ready to share more. This time too, the staff at Illumination and Nintendo are working together. We’re thinking about broadening Mario’s world further, and it’ll have a bright and fun story. We hope you’ll look forward to it! [2/2]
