AI2U is a genre-blending adventure-puzzle game created by AlterStaff Inc., currently in Early Access. Originally launched in 2023 as a viral demo called Yandere AI Girlfriend Simulator ~ With You Til The End, the game has developed into a more ambitious project. With help from community feedback and growing attention, AlterStaff has turned that one-off concept into a quirky, fully playable title where love and logic collide.
AI2U or AI Slop?
If you mashed up Doki Doki Literature Club, and Escape Simulator, you’d get something close to AI2U. You play as yourself, trying to escape obsessively affectionate AI characters like the catgirl Eddie, the witch Elysia, or the holographic beauty Estelle. Characters who do everything they can to keep you in their world. The twist? You interact with them using typed or spoken natural language, and your words shape the story, relationships, and even your ability to escape.
The back end of the game uses a ChatGPT API to interpret your input and relay responses from your captors. Each level is part psychological puzzle, part romantic tension, where choices lead to multiple endings, from freedom to… eternal companionship. The AI-generated responses felt shockingly natural. However, I did not attempt to break the game, I only fed it a mix of expected and unexpected dialogue. Each time, the response felt like the AI was on top of what I was trying to do.
Art Direction and Visuals
Though powered by cutting-edge generative AI for voices and dialogue, the game’s visuals are entirely hand-crafted. Each level has a distinct theme and mood, ranging from cozy cabins to eerie labs, all rich in color, atmospheric lighting, and anime-style charm. Characters are expressive and lovingly designed, with small touches like dancing, cooking, or reacting to your drawings that deepen the immersion.
AI as a Mechanic
AI2U is currently in Early Access on Steam and will remain so until early 2026. The full version is expected to feature a main storyline that links all levels, smarter AI interactions, new characters, and more diverse endings. While only on PC for now, future platform announcements are likely if its popularity grows. Until then, players can wishlist the game and join its active community on Discord to help shape development.
