As one of the many games the Iron Lords experienced at Summer Games Fest, the upcoming Exoborne from Sharkmob MB caught Lord Cognito’s eye.

What is Exoborne?
After triggering the wrath of Mother Nature and the world going into utter chaos, the Rebellion sets out to finish the fight. But beware, as not everyone can be trusted.
That is the premise leading into Exoborne, tasking players with finding resources throughout the vast open land of Colton County. But danger lurks across each biome, overtaken by warring factions, enemy players, and extreme forces of nature.
Hands-on Impressions with Lord Cognito
Going hands-on with the game, Lord Cognito spoke with Exoborne’s art director, Erik Nilsson. The hands-on discussion begins by discussing Eric’s role on the project, designing a lot of the game’s visual identity. This includes the Exo’s (armor that the player character wears), general character design, and many other elements.
A major highlight of the interview was Eric discussing how Unreal Engine 5 powered the project, supporting the game’s stunning visuals and overall presentation. Cog loved how the game looked after his hands-on time with the extraction shooter.
Another point of discussion was introducing this genre, the Extraction shooter, to new audiences. Erik Nilsson stated the following regarding this:
“How do you balance that for players, maybe new to the extraction shooter space? Yeah. So, I think this has been like a really big hurdle for us as well. Like it’s been something we really want to do is that we want don’t want to be as hardcore as like charcoal, for example, but we still want to be PVP first. We want to be uh we want to be competitive and have some really cool combat going on. So, it’s a really difficult balance to strive for.
I think we have a lot of uh um stuff in the game that helps with that. For example, you can lose everything in your loadout in your backpack, but you don’t lose your exore egg, for example, and you can keep upgrading that. You can keep making it bigger and better.”
Closing Thoughts on Exoborne

Watching the interview, this game is firmly on my radar now. Between its impressive visuals and engaging but still approachable gameplay, this is one to keep an eye on when it releases in the future. You can wishlist Exoborne on Steam and visit the game’s official website to learn more!
