Announced during Devstream 191, Digital Extremes has confirmed that they will be at The Game Awards again this year. For the last few years, Digital Extremes has shown off amazing launch trailers for upcoming expansions for Warframe, whether it was Whispers in the Walls or Warframe: 1999, they stunned the audience and reminded the world what a real free-to-play game can achieve. But not this year. Digital Extremes is launching The Old Peace a day before The Game Awards this year, which calls into question: “What are they planning to show on December 11th?”
During the Devstream, Rebecca Ford said what they will be showing will be in regard to “something else”. With Tau’s full reveal planned for TennoCon 2026, what more could Digital Extremes have up their sleeve? Here are a few bits of speculation on what could be shown during The Game Awards.
A Tease of Tau?
This could be the safest bet for The Game Awards reveal. Seeing as Tau is very important to the lore of Warframe. It could be a small teaser that sets the tone for what would be shown at TennoCon 2026. This could be a reveal of a game mode, another famous voice actor joining the roster, or an exciting cinematic. If it is Tau-related, that means that a lot of work is being put into the expansion next year (possibly all hands on deck), and its full reveal will be mind-blowing.

Something Related to The Duviri Paradox
Ever since The Duviri Paradox launched in 2023, it has been in a weird spot. It was met with mostly positive sentiments on the gameplay side of things. But the way the story was presented at TennoCon 2022 was not what was delivered to players who were anticipating its release for years (especially after that gameplay demo). This is still slowly being mended with certain updates like Isleweaver, which launched earlier this year. But there is still so much potential the concept holds.

Obviously, Isleweaver could have been the final chapter for this story. But I feel there might be something else Digital Extremes could be trying for it. I appreciated the efforts they put forward in trying to make it Warframe-centric and not Drifter-centric. But Duviri’s entire premise had a dreamlike approach with heavy melee combat, like you would in a Souls game. If it is something Duviri-related, it will be another quest that progresses that story forward in a very meaningful way to pay homage to the original idea. Perhaps a “Chapter Two” approach?
A New Game Announcement at The Game Awards
This is the most “out there” prediction I could think of. Considering Digital Extremes no longer has an external publishing arm. But, Digital Extremes is currently working on Soulframe, which is now 12 major updates into its pre-alpha Preludes program, and still delivering high-quality content for their loyal fanbase in Warframe. With this in mind, there are two ways this can go.
- Financially backing a partnered game studio like Sumo Digital for their next project. Seeing as they have worked with them on Warframe: 1999 and recently, The Vallis Undermind.
- A small game from a team with Digital Extremes could be developing another “premium” game as opposed to an ongoing live service title. Such as a potential remake for Dark Sector or a new IP altogether.

Depending on what happens here, I just hope that things play out more favorably as opposed to what happened with Wayfinder in 2023. But then again, Digital Extremes could just be announcing a new player milestone or something else entirely to look forward to on Geoff Keighley’s stage during The Game Awards. Whatever it could be, however. It may just be a red herring for a new and bombastic trailer for The Old Peace.
