When it comes to 2025, it has been very stacked with new games, updates, and DLCs for older games, and of course, the slew of live service offerings. But then came along Borderlands 4 to shake everything up with its traditional model. Sure, there are a mix of free and paid offerings, but so far, there have only been freebies thrown out to the supportive fanbase. Such as its Christmas DLC and, of course, its first raid boss, Bloomreaper.
Bloomreaper the Invincible is a free raid boss with its own arena, new loot, and more challenges sprinkled in for hardcore players to tackle. This includes a new Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level and much more.
All New Loot and New Challenge Modes in Borderlands 4
For starters, the update is not just filled with the first of the raid bosses to come to the game. There is a total of 9 new legendary gear to obtain. Such as:
- Rainmaker – Ripper Sniper Rifle.
- Mantra – Maliwan Shotgun.
- Undershield – Vladof Shield.
- Urchin – Tediore Ordnance.
- Jett-Setter – Ripper Ordnance.
- Misericorde – Siren Class Mod.
- Overdriver – Exo-Soldier Class Mod.
- Trooper – Gravitar Class Mod.
- Lamplighter – Forgeknight Class Mod.
The class mods will drop end-of-mission chests. When initiating the fight with Bloomreaper, you will be on a timer, and you will be rewarded with better chests to loot depending on how fast you kill Bloomreaper. Rainmaker, for example, will only drop when you kill this boss within a minute and thirty seconds. This will no doubt let players test out their builds and skills to the fullest.
After killing Bloomreaper for the first time, you will unlock Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode 6, which will raise up the difficulty in the endgame even further. If that doesn’t sound challenging enough, then there is a brand new mode to try out. That is the “True Mode,” which will scale all encounters, enemy numbers, and their health as if there are 4 players present, even if you are playing solo.
