For those not aware of it, Team Asano from Square Enix is very prominently known recently for the Octopath Traveler series. But they came from somewhere with an original IP under their belt. The Bravely Default series. There are three entries people can enjoy right now. Bravely Default 2 was available on PC and even the Nintendo Switch for a while. But when the Nintendo Switch 2 came out, Team Asano made a port of the first game as a remaster as part of that system’s launch line-up. That being said, the Bravely Default Flying Fairy Remaster was a surprise, but a welcome one to be sure.
As part of the launch line-up, it raised questions as to why it took so long or why it was only on the Nintendo Switch 2. That is, until yesterday, when Square Enix stealth dropped the game for 2 more platforms on a random Thursday. One is the Xbox Series consoles, and the other, more prominently, is on Steam. What You Need to Know About the Bravely Default Flying Fairy Remaster
Bravely Default Flying Fairy Remaster has sold over 4 million copies and is a traditional JRPG with all the bells and whistles. Stats, spells, equipment, jobs, the whole nine yards. The game was originally locked to just the 3DS in 2012, but that did not stop it from being a hit. The question that lingers from the shadow drop is “why now?” Well, it’s an excellent question. Seeing as there is an Xbox Wire article, one can imagine that Microsoft helped port it to PC and their consoles. But there is no concrete info otherwise. The game was not ported to Sony’s PlayStation 5 either, which is strange.
