Another Lap – Sonic Racing CrossWorlds DLC Announced

The race tracks of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds continue to get crowded. Following a strong wave of DLC content (paid and free), that trend continues with a new batch of characters joining the race.

Blue Bomber Incoming – Mega Man DLC Launches Soon

While there is no firm release date, the Mega Man DLC pack is still planned for Q2 2026. The pack will include two racers (Mega Man and Proto Man), a Rush-themed car, and the Willy Castle race track. It could also be one of the first paid DLC packs with an extensive library of music, as the Mega Man series is famous for its legendary soundtrack.

With the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection launching later in March, this could come out around that release.

Birds, Pirates, and Pyuos – New Wave of Free DLC

Following the release of NiGHT’s, AiAi, and the duo of Tangle & Whisper, SEGA revealed a new slate of free DLC racers coming to CrossWorlds.

The first is Red from Angry Birds, based on his modern design from the Angry Birds Movie series. He is releasing in early April, with Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii‘s Goro Majima’s release later in April. His inclusion is noteworthy, as he’s the second Like a Dragon character to join Sonic Racing CrossWorld’s roster.

Lastly, Arle from the Pyuo Pyuo series joins the race in May 2026. These inclusions aren’t the most surprising, since SEGA owns Rovio (the makers of Angry Birds). Meanwhile, both Yakuza and Pyuo Pyuo are important franchises for the company, so their characters joining the race is fitting.

However, one must ask about additional Sonic characters. Surely, more are on the way… Right?

An Infinite Mystery – The Unknown March 2026 Festival

At the start of March 2026, the official Twitter/X account of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds revealed the roadmap for the month. It included another Legend Competition, but it also mentioned a mysterious ??? Festival Event, taking place from March 26th to 29th.

Usually, festivals are linked to character drops, paid or free. While the logical answer is that’s when the Mega Man DLC is releasing, why make it a mystery? We all know it’s coming soon. So why hide who’s coming to the game?

Dormant Sonic Characters Join the Race

Throughout the Sonic Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles, several characters from the series showed up again in prominent roles. These include IDW’s Tangle and Whisper, Sonic Advance 2’s Vanilla the Rabbit, and Sonic Advance 3’s Gemerl.

Seeing these characters get voices again and major roles in the Chatoix’s big case was awesome… But one shocking reveal stunned everyone.

The Sonic Forces antagonist returns for the first time since 2017, and their master plan concludes with the final episode, releasing on March 17th.

I’m of the firm belief that, since new renders have come out for both Infinite (without his iconic Phantom Ruby) and Gemerl, the duo will come to Racing CrossWorlds during the ??? Festival. But we shall see.

Closing Thoughts

It’s been a treat seeing the waves of DLC content come to the enjoyable Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, and I’m eager to see how Sonic Team plans to support the game as 2026 continues.
