Sonic Racing CrossWorlds has a few paid DLC packs, each covering a different franchise. The most recent one is another crossover with Capcom’s legendary blue bomber, Mega Man! Teaming up with Rockman in the realm of comics a few years ago, SEGA & Sonic Team unite the blue brothers once more.
Does this DLC pack offer a rocking good time? Or does the blue bomber miss a few shots?

What’s Included

In the ‘Mega Man DLC Pack’, the following is included.
- Mega Man (Power) and Proto Man (Speed) Racers
- The Rush Roadstar Car (Acceleration)
- The Willy Castle Track (for Grand Prix, Time Trial, and Race Park Modes)
- Music Tracks (Willy Castle Remix, Willy Castle Final Lap Remix, and the original Willy Castle theme from Mega Man 2)
For online play, all paid DLC race tracks are accessible, regardless of whether you bought them or not.
Mega Head Banging – Willy Castle Music Remix
Before talking about the race course, I have to give a special shoutout to the stellar remix of the Willy Castle theme. Sure, this theme has been in nearly every Mega Man crossover project. However, that doesn’t change the fact that this is by far its best remix yet, save for the Smash Bros 4 version.
Channeling the original melody while adding in the fantastic quality expected from Sonic soundtracks, it’s a rockin’ good time driving around the iconic Willy Castle.
Mega Blasting – Willy Castle Race Track
On to the race track itself, it’s one of the only DLC courses with a unique item to the stage. Every racer can find Mega Busters, which can fire up to three times. These are used to blast Willy, the Yellow Devil, the little Mets across the race track, and even to blow up blocks covering alternate paths or boost pads.
Shooting enemies can grant you ten rings, which is critical for your gadget builds that heavily utilize rings for speed. But outside of the meta game, the race course is just fun to drive around.
Filled to the brim with references to Mega Man 2, it’s a genuine love letter to one of gaming’s iconic platformers.
Robot Brothers – Mega Man & Proto Man Racers
It wouldn’t be a proper crossover without the Blue Bomber, and this time, he brings his brother, Proto Man, as well. Like all other DLC characters, the duo doesn’t speak. But similar to the Pac-Man and Minecraft DLC packs, that’s not as glaring as the SpongeBob pack, since the characters don’t always speak in their native games.
Iconic sound effects are used instead, matching the expressive animation in the Mega Man 7-inspired renditions of Mega Man and Proto Man. In addition to great animation work, attention to detail is appreciated. One example is when using the Mega Buster item. The duo uses their own blaster, rather than a floating one like other racers.
Overall, these two are wonderful inclusions to the world of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds with minimal compromises.
Rush Jet! – The Rush Roadstar Car
Rounding out the DLC package is the Rush Roadstar car. This Acceleration-type ride is a great complement to either Mega Man or Proto Man’s stats. In addition, the car reacts to the world around it, with Rush’s eyes blinking and looking at incoming objects ahead of it.
It’s a loving homage to Mega Man: Battle & Chase and the perfect car for the blue bomber.
Closing Thoughts on the Mega Man DLC Pack
As the latest DLC release for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, this pack offers great value for fans of the Mega Man series. The iconic blue bomber’s animation work is stellar, the race course is a blast with a unique gimmick, and even his Rush Chaser car is a great inclusion.
I highly recommend this DLC pack if you love all things Mega Man!
