(Updated) Apparently the leak’s source was simply ‘trolling’ media outlets, as reported by Radec on Twitter/X. We apologize for this mistake on our part.
During the PS4 generation, smaller games released alongside the Days Gone and The Last of Us Part 2’s in the world. One of those projects, was the PS4 remake of MediEvil. Having a budget price point and being a faithful remake of the PS1 original, fans enjoyed it but sales were lackluster.
Despite all that however, it appears that the game’s sequel will be given the same treatment on PS5.
MediEvil 2 Remake Rumor
Discovered on the MediEvil subreddit by Twitter user Radec, it appears that MediEvil’s sequel is getting the remake treatment.
Sporting a larger budget and having the $70 price to match, it seems to be a far more ambitious effort from Other Ocean. It is worth noting that Sony has multi-media plans for the IP in the works. In addition, three different versions of MediEvil are currently playable on PlayStation platforms.
It could be Sony simply bolstering the PS Plus Premium Classics line up, but it could be supporting the idea that the company has an interest in the IP.
Overall Thoughts
I personally find the idea of Sony taking PlayStation 1 and 2 era franchises and giving new life to them fantastic. This era of PlayStation always felt special. A lot of experimentation and genre variety, with characters you would not expect to see from the competition.
This would also be joining many other games, such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and the Uncharted trilogy getting a new lease on life on PlayStation 5. While this is far less redundant than those potential efforts, it sparks the question at what could be next.
But what do you all think? Will Sir Daniel rise from the grave? Let us know in the comments below!
