EDITOR’S UPDATE 5/7/2020 12:12 PM: It seems that Smart Delivery with Madden 21 will be with a caveat. Tom Warren indicated in his article on The Verge that updating is with a timeframe.

Instead, EA is offering its own free upgrade offer, but only if players purchase Madden NFL 21 on Xbox One by December 31st and upgrade to Xbox Series X by March 31st, 2021.

During the Xbox Series X Inside Xbox event today, Microsoft and EA announced that Madden 21 will be coming at launch. Not only will Madden 21 be available on Xbox Series X day one, but it will also be free for Xbox One owners of the game. Madden will be taking advantage of Microsoft’s new Smart Delivery System. Where the game will be able to recognize what Xbox console you own and deliver the best version.

This year Madden will of course feature upgraded graphics on the new consoles. It also features Lamar Jackson on the cover. There was no word on FIFA, NHL, and a mystery (UFC) 4th sports game coming to consoles before April of 2021.
