A new trailer debuted for Oddworld: Soulstorm, the sequel to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, at the Epic Games Store Spring Showcase on Thursday, announcing the release window and platforms.

Coming exclusively to the Epic Games Store, PS4, and PS5, Oddworld: Soulstorm will launch this spring. Players will control Abe, a reluctant Mudokon hero who inadvertently sparked an uprising. Exploring in “2.9D” environments, free Abe’s followers from oppression from the Magog Carte.

“Scavenge for supplies, craft weapons, arm your followers, solve puzzles, and safely deliver all of 1,000 followers to freedom,” the developer writes. “Ready for or not, the entire fate of the Mudokon species is in Abe’s (and your) hands in Oddworld: Soulstorm.”

Oddworld: Soulstorm is taking the platforming genre to the next level by adding light RPG elements and a consequence-based mechanic called “Quarma.” As players scavenge for items in the world, they will have a number of tools to craft to assist them in the game’s challenges. The more followers Abe and the player save, the stronger their uprising becomes. Developers note that a first time playthrough can be 15 hours. Achievement-hunters and leaderboard chasers can clock in dozens more.

More news and gameplay will be announced the closer we get to Oddworld: Soulstorm‘s spring 2021 release. Oddworld: Soulstorm is available for preorder now on the Epic Games Store.
