On June 6th, 2022, Sony held a State of Play presentation focused on third-party titles and upcoming PSVR 2 games. In the presentation, Sony announced four games in development for the upcoming PSVR2. The first of these games is a virtual reality port of the standout horror title Resident Evil: Village.

Released in 2021, Resident Evil: Village follows Ethan Winters as he tries to find and rescue his daughter from an eerie Eastern European village. The first-person horror game earned wide praise from critics and consumers alike, earning a 9/10 from us at Lords of Gaming.

Resident Evil announced more than this, too. Resident Evil 4 Remake led off the State of Play. It announced a March 24th release date for next year before Village appeared.

While the announcement did not include a release date, the prospect of returning to RE: Village in VR is sure to drive the adoption of the next generation of Sony’s virtual reality hardware.
