Bloomberg reported that Sony recently reduced the output of its PSVR2 headsets. The company cited poor pre-order numbers as the reason behind the cut in production.

Previously, Sony aimed to have 2 million PlayStation VR 2 headsets available for customers. But it looks like now it plans to ship 1.5 million units, a 500,000 reduction on launch day.

PSVR2 is priced at $549.99 and requires a PlayStation 5. The high entry price point could be the culprit behind the low pre-order number.

Despite this issue, PSVR2 looks like it has a solid launch line-up. Especially, the masterful Demeo which is scheduled to launch alongside the impressively specced VR headset.

PSVR2 is slated to release on February 22, 2023.
