Quite the Rockstar – GTA 6 Will Release October 2025

2025 is a big year for gaming. Everyone in the industry is awaiting the release date for Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6. As release dates for the Fall 2025 begin lining up, new speculation for the GTA 6 release window has materialized.

GTA 6 Releasing October 28th, 2025

Kotaku reported on speculation when GTA 6 will release. They state that the game will release on October 28th, 2025. Coming to this conclusion through the recent Borderlands 4 release date, announced at the recent Sony State of Play. They say the following on the matter;

Earlier this week, 2K Games and Gearbox announced the release date for Borderlands 4. The co-op sci-fi looter shooter is set to arrive on September 23. Why does that matter? Well, Take-Two Interactive is the parent company for both Rockstar and 2K Games. So unless Rockstar Games is completely rogue and never communicates with Take-Two leadership, I’d imagine they know when GTA 6 is landing, even if it’s just a rough window. And that would likely help inform when they would choose to launch Borderlands 4.

As they state, if any publisher knows when GTA 6 will release, it has to be 2K Games. Is this report just guessing? Or any merit to this finding?

Will It Launch in October 2025?

The Fall 2025 line up for major AAA releases hasn’t been cemented. Though, a number of expectations could inform when GTA 6 will release.

The yearly Call of Duty release usually drops in November, with tradition likely maintaining. In addition, major Sony releases like Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach could release in the September window.

Game File reported that many publishers were excited to hear Borderlands 4 getting a release date, knowing the implications of that.
