For two devstreams now, Preludes 10 has been teased for Soulframe, the new fantasy MMORPG from Digital Extremes. On Devstream 7 they spoke at length about most of the features coming to the game in this update. While at Devstream 188 from PAX East, there was more to show, in the form of an exciting trailer. Now, after all of the waiting since Devstream 188, Digital Extremes has released Preludes 10. This update is quite a big one, but sadly lacks a very important featured they showcased multiple times.
Details on Soulframe Preludes 10
In the previous update, the world of Soulframe was opened up. This allowed players to freely explore Midrath Island, and also take on faction quests for reputation and rewards. It also allowed players to enjoy the first caster weapon for more long range options. In Preludes 10, there was more content added, including a new procedurally generated dungeon to explore:
- The Festival of the Circade: This is an in-game event featuring the new dungeon, Crypt of the Circada.
- There are now 3 secondary weapons to equip and use. All 3 are variants of throwing daggers, but with their own unique flavors.
- A new boss fight against The Mendicant King: This new boss fight will be trigger randomly in corrupted section in Midrath Island.
- There are 2 new armor sets being added, and all armor now have defensive stats. As well as damage types now attributed to weapons.
- You can now created 4 unique loadouts to swap to.
- World Trees now have a Dark Souls-inspired notes system to communicate with fellow players.
- There is a new starter sword and staff caster weapon choice.
- Finally, new enemies and more faction quest variation has been added.

More details on Preludes 10 can be found on their official forum here. While this is a meaty update, the Mote system that would function similar to mods in Warframe to a degree have been delayed out of Preludes 10. There is no word on when this buildcrafting feature will be implemented, but it may be in one of the next Preludes updates.

Soulframe can only be played on PC in its pre-alpha version. You can sign up to selected on their website here.

[…] Preludes 10 in Soulframe felt like a minor improvement to Preludes 9. I was very excited to play this update originally, as they showed off so much awesome content that they still delivered on, for the most part. Secondary weapons were being added for more build diversity, a new dungeon was being added to the game, and armour going beyond the cosmetic side of the game with stat additions. All of this sounded great, even the Runes and Motes system that was going to replace Envoy Pact ultimates. […]
