Speculation: What to Expect from Devstream 188 at PAX East

On Saturday, Digital Extremes will be at PAX East at the Main Stage for Devstream 188. The last few months for Devstreams have been a mix of looking back on Warframe: 1999 and having some fun with the Warframe community while also keeping the Soulframe community up to date with what’s to come in the future. For multiple episodes of Devshorts, and even in the recent Devstreams, they have been teasing major reveals for both games at this Devstream.

Considering it will take place live at the massive Main Stage at PAX East, they are going to no doubt show off multiple updates and exciting news for both games. Here is what I think will be shown for both games at Devstream 188 at PAX East. Obviously, I do not have any official information from Digital Extremes, this is all just speculation.

What May be Shown at Devstream 188 for Warframe and Soulframe

I think there will be three major reveals for each game. But first, let us start with Soulframe, as it is still only on PC and has more surprises up its sleeve.

Soulframe Preludes 10 Gameplay

Currently Soulframe is in Preludes 9, and this update opened the world, literally. You can explore the full open world of Midrath island, but it is very barren as it is still work in progress. But in this update, they added multiple factions and removed Envoy Idols from the game (which I am not a fan of). These Idols were essentially ultimates from Destiny 2 where you can summon weapons to use and kill enemies or bosses with them. With all of this being said, at Devstream 188, they will most likely show off all of the cool new content in Preludes 10.

Soulframe Preludes 11 Tease

At the end of Devstream 7 for Soulframe, they made a cryptic tease that is obviously aimed at a future content drop. I think at Devstream 188, it will be that future content drop they show a trailer for. But what it will be is up for interpretation. However, I have a theory, and it harkens back to the reveal. In the opening of the reveal trailer they mentioned “castles aloft”, hinting at Ode castles in the sky. I think the trailer they will show for Preludes 11 will reveal these castles. They will follow it up with what function they will serve in the game. Most likely they will be endgame content focused, like the old Orokin towers in Warframe.

Soulframe Founders Packs

This will be a weird reveal, but I think Digital Extremes will show off the Founders Packs for Soulframe. I think there will be a very low costing Founders Pack, and three tiers above that one. I think the pricing should be under $100 USD, and it will remain purely cosmetic. Players of Warframe still lament missing out of Excalibur, Lato and Skana Prime. I think Digital Extremes will do their best to avoid any cases of severe fomo that affects the game long term.

With all of this said for Soulframe, there will definitely be big teases for Warframe.

Yareli Prime Reveal for Warframe

This is the most obvious reveal for Warframe. A week ago, Digital Extremes released a brief trailer of Fortuna’s setting with a bubbly heart in it, and, of course, a catchy surfer-themed track that I want to hear in full as soon as possible. It’s very obvious this is Yareli Prime, and I think she will release on the Wednesday following her reveal.

I think she will come with the Kompressa Prime, and either a new Primed Primary or Melee weapon.

An Update for The Duviri Paradox

This is not a reach, as in Devstream 187, they showed off a new Murmur enemy. This enemy, when they hovered over the name, revealed it was Duviri related.

(Apologies for the picture quality)

The Duviri Paradox has gotten little to no love after its Echoes update. Sure, there have been more incarnon adapters, and more game modes for The Circuit. But there is so much that can be done with this rogue-lite souls-like game mode. I think the update will follow the Indifference tampering with Duviri after the Drifter meddled with its plans in 1999. What all will happen in this update is of course unknown, but I am excited to see more of Duviri. I just hope it is not a small-scale update.

TennoCon Warframe Expansion Tease

Obviously, at every TennoCon there is either a major expansion reveal or two (as was the case with Whispers in the Walls and Warframe: 1999. But at Devstream 188, I think they will show a small tease at the usual end of the year expansion. I have absolutely no idea where Digital Extremes is going after 1999, but I think a brief trailer will be shown. It will serve as a reveal, and end with a “Full Reveal at TennoCon 2025”. I think after this they will go on to talk about TennoCon 2025. It will be the 10-year anniversary of the event, and they go over some last-minute details for it.

But this is all that I tihnk will be shown at Devstream 188. I could be wrong about everything in this article, but past Devstream and Devshorts amongst other teases help my case. Regardless of the outcome, it will no doubt be a fantastic Devstream for online watchers, and PAX East attendees.
