Soulframe Devstream 11 Breakdown

Twas the month before the holiday season, and Soulframe still being built and in its infancy, Digital Extremes hosted a new stream to show players how they would earn their keep. A look at the next Preludes update, the founders program, and more, here is everything Digital Extremes has in store.

Soulframes Founders Program Goes Live November 25th

On November 25th, Soulframe will receive its 12th Preludes update. To get a better picture of the game since our preview last year, you can find our critiques of Preludes 10 and 11 here. Preludes 12’s biggest highlight for me is the long-awaited founders program. At this time, there is no official pricing for the program, but Steve Sinclair, CEO of Digital Extremes, did hint that it would be lower in cost compared to the founders program for Warframe back in the day.

The founders program will consist of the following:

  • Wyld (Prime) Pacts, the first to come to the game.
  • Armor Sets.
  • Weapons.
  • Sparrow Skins.
  • Premium Currency.
  • Transmog Consumables.
  • Codes to give people access to the game before it is made public.
  • A Flower to Plant in a location within Soulframe.
  • The ability to craft schematics for stuff in the founders’ pack to trade with players at a later date. The crafted schematic will have your in-game name on it.

You will also get a new sword skin for usage in Warframe after the upcoming expansion, The Old Peace, goes live.

There will be three packs altogether, allowing you to choose which one you would prefer to own. There are no official details on how long the program will run when it launches. A webpage that will go live on November 25th that will list everything, including the pricing, when it is available, you can find it here. If you are already in the Preludes program, you can access the founders’ pack from a new Camel in your Nightfold that will be your way to access the marketplace when Digital Extremes creates items to purchase in it for real money.

New Content and Changes in Preludes 12

Preludes 12 for Soulframe will add a new weapon type, Greatswords. The Greatswords will be slow, yet heavy-hitting. They showed off only one on the Devstream, but will be adding more, including the Mendicant King’s Greatsword in Preludes 12, with new ones in later updates. There will be better reward chances for the new open-world bosses, as well as new Siege encounters that will escalate for better rewards. Better balancing for the Sparrow’s tale reputation gains for factions will be added in Preludes 12.

Finally, they talked about a new optional Hard-Mode, named Cogah. Cogah is an optional Hard-mode coming to Soulframe that is triggered after drinking from a new potion you can brew. This new Hard-Mode will be a player’s way to truly test their skill, and if they fall in battle with no way to revive themselves, they will return to their Nightfold, and the world’s state will return to normal.

New Player Experience Changes in Soulframe

When starting the game as a new player, you will now have a much longer tutorial. After the character creator and waking up on the shore, you will now be led to your grandfather’s hut. It is here you will get to try your starting pact, armor, and weapon before committing and understanding how a lot of early game mechanics work. This also includes cleansing your first world tree.

Limited Fast Travel, New Totems and Runes, and More

Fast travel is getting added to Soulframe, but not in a way I would prefer as a player. To fast travel to one of the world trees, you will need to have a “wevet seed” that will be consumed upon use. As someone who finds traversing the world to feel like a chore, being able to spend these seeds to unlock fast travel on a world tree instead would be a much better route for Digital Extremes to go down, especially if we are 12 preludes updates in and still without a mount to use despite seeing it in the very first gameplay reveal.

From the Gameplay Demo in 2023

There will also be a whole suite of new Runes for weapons and Totems for players to earn. They also showed off new armor, new customization options for your Envoy, and new weapons coming to the game. They are also updating the map to be more helpful overall.

Jennifer English is Joining Soulframe

Finally, Jennifer English, or Maelle from Expedition 33, or Shadowheart from Baldur’s Gate 3, will be joining the cast of Soulframe. In an announcement made on the Devstream that they have a clip on their official X account here. She talked about how she will be voicing the character named the “Empress of Eldveil”.

But that was all of the highlights from Devstream 11 for Soulframe. You can expect our coverage of Preludes 12 and a comprehensive breakdown of the Founders Packs when they go live on November 25th. If you would like to watch the full Devstream for any small details or shenanigans, you can find it down below!
