A Brand New Sniper Elite Game Coming To PSVR In 2020

At PAX East we had a chance to go hands-on with Sniper Elite VR. A brand new fully-fledged stand-alone Sniper Elite game for PSVR. We spoke with the team at Rebellion, who is committed to bringing a unique experience to PSVR in 2020. Without a doubt, this will not be a port or a remake in VR. This is a brand new Sniper Elite campaign set in WW2 Italy. It will feature free movement, with the ability to adjust movement settings. As well as full controller support for the Aim, Move, and DualShock 4 controllers. 

Our short demo started out traversing down side streets in WW2 Italy. Eventually, during the tutorial, we worked our way up into homes flanking down a small group of enemy soldiers. The front triggers on the Aim controller allow the player to zoom down the scope and to focus. If the shot deals enough damage, an X-ray kill camera slows time and shows the bullet passing through the enemy.  

Looking down the sights with the Aim controller feels smooth. Pulling the trigger to fire is on par with games like Firewall and Doom VFR. The campaign will be about the same length as any other Sniper Elite game. It will have authentic WW2 weapons and environments. As well as a series first, first-person camera view. Rebellion has promised to deliver the game to PSVR headsets in 2020.
