New Nintendo Direct Coming on January 9th

Nintendo Switch

Nintendo’s plans for 2019 have been mostly shrouded in mystery. After an incredible 2019, which saw entries in the Fire Emblem, Pokemon, and Luigi’s Mansion franchise, the only games we know are coming this year are Animal Crossing and Breath of the Wild 2.  That is poised to change on January 9th at 9:30 AM EST with a twenty minute long Pokemon focused Nintendo Direct coming this Friday.

Nintendo Direct

Considering the launch of Sword and Shield last year, it is unlikely that an entirely new game will be announced. This will probably be additional content for the game. Though it could also be integration with the still popular Pokemon Go mobile game.

Last year, the Q1 Direct brought the announcement of Mario Maker 2, Astral Chain and the Link’s Awakening remaster.  However, Nintendo has preannounced it to be Pokemon focused. So don’t expect major announcements about any of Nintendo’s other franchises until later in the quarter.  Tune into the Nintendo Direct coming to Twitter, Twitch, or Youtube later this week.
