With bigger levels, a new high-polished look, and the return of the zany bandicoot, how could Crash 4 get any better? Developer Toys for Bob, the team behind Spyro Reignited Trilogy, sure had an answer with exciting reveals. In the video, the producer of the game goes over new gameplay mechanics and new playable characters coming to the sequel.

We’ve already seen some cool coverage the past few months, but this reveal kicks it up a notch. Crash 4 already looked true to roots in its gorgeous art style. Now, players can choose a variety of unlockable in-game outfits for playable characters Crash and Coco. Your mind immediately probably said, “Microtransactions?!” Nope. The developer confirmed this game will have no microtransactions, which is a statement that’s definitely becoming a marketing tool nowadays. You love to see it.

New Masks and New Playable Characters

Crash 4 introduces more mythological tiki masks other than Aku Aku and Uka. Throughout the game, Crash and Coco will be assisted by a few others that will spice up a few levels. One mask flips gravity, another slows downtime, and the third phases platforms in and out of existence. All of the new mechanics have been seen before, but a first in the Crash series.

In a surprise reveal, gamers won’t only get to play as Crash and Coco. Prior villains Dr. N. Cortex and Dingodile will also be playable and have their own unique playstyle. The fact that Dr. N. Cortex can use his blaster to make platforms is pretty hilarious to see. Catch the video below for more details:

Crash Bandicoot 4 is the latest sequel to the series in over a decade. Returning love for Crash and the PS1 trilogy began with 2017’s Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. With the latest reveals, Toys for Bob is packing a lot of love and creativity into this one. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is looking fantastic as the next sequel, and evolution, to the beloved trilogy. The game releases October 2 for PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
