It appears we will finally be getting the information PlayStation fans have been waiting for all year. Sony will hold a PlayStation 5 Showcase on Wednesday, September 16. This event sets the stage for a mysterious PAX Online event this Friday. As well as partner publishers showcasing their games during the Online Tokyo Game Show 2020 on Wednesday the 23rd. Over on the PlayStation Blog Sid Shuman Senior Director, SIE Content Communications described the event as, “will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.” We here at LOGNET will be attending the PlayStation event for PAX Online as press, our coverage kicks off today with a presentation from Gearbox Publishing. We could start seeing updates as early as today with their PS5 launch title Godfall.
The other phrase in the blog post from Sid gives us a hint at what we might be seeing during the PlayStation 5 Showcase on Wednesday, September 16. “Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!).” That verbiage there makes me think that this event will be similar to the June event. With the exception that some of the games shown will be dated. This is most likely where we see the price and launch date of the console. Similarly to how the event went in June, showcasing the console itself.
