This week has been packed full of unexpected outcomes. If you had told me 2 months ago that Cyberpunk 2077 would launch a broken mess, and the developer CD Projekt Red would be caught in the midst of some shady decisions. I probably would not have believed you, however, this is the reality that we now live in. With many players across Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 having broken and barely playable versions of the game, an outcry began for customers to be able to get their money back. CD Projekt Red announced that they would be supporting refunds of the game, but never really detailed how players would be able to do this. This left Sony and Xbox to field users’ requests and ultimately made a massive mess of the situation. Now today, in an official post from PlayStation, players will now be able to get their Cyberpunk 2077 refund.
From the official Ask PlayStation Twitter account, it was announced that PlayStation would be rolling out full refunds for Cyberpunk 2077. While many had faced uphill battles with PlayStation customer support over the past few days it appears that this has been smoothed over. If you bought Cyberpunk 2077 digitally on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 you can officially request a refund directly from Sony. In addition to this, Cyberpunk 2077 will also be removed from the PlayStation Store until further notice. This is an unprecedented move by the company, and signals that this is just a continuation of the disaster that continues to be the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Hopefully, CD Projekt Red is listening to their players now, because the message seems loud and clear at this point.
