To say 2020 has been an odd year in the video game industry would be an understatement. We have seen some pretty unusual methods of marketing and announcing games to the general public. From the stealth, announcements dropped at a moment’s notice via a blog post on social media. To massive live streams, that have often been filled with technical issues and sub-par fidelity. Publishers and developers have been trying to find the best way to communicate with fans this year. What if you simply just announced massive studio news in an off-hand Tweet reply though?
That’s what happened today, as Greg Street who is the VP of IP and Entertainment at Riot Games just dropped what the studio’s next project will be. In a reply to a fan asking whether or not the new League of Legends game would be an MMO or not. He replied with a simple “it is an MMO”, while this is not as big as the name drop of the actual game. It should also be noted that people should not get their hopes up of this game just suddenly shadow dropping in the next few months. However, it is exciting to know that a League of Legends MMO could be on the horizon in the future. For now, we can only wait and see what the future holds for Riot Games.
It is an MMO
