Quantum Break Is Departing Xbox Game Pass
Games are always entering and departing subscription services. Whether it’s PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass, as many games are entering the services there are some departing. However, sometimes when certain games leave a service it can raise an eyebrow. This is the case with Remedy’s sci-fi action shooter Quantum Break, which is set to leave Xbox Game Pass.
A Strange Departure From Xbox Game Pass
As originally reported by TrueAchievements, it appears that 2016’s Quantum Break will be departing Xbox Game Pass this month. This would not seem so strange if it was some random third-party AAA game release. Quantum Break was not only a cornerstone exclusive from the Xbox One era, but it was also published by Xbox Game Studios. We Happy Few by Compulsion Games recently departed Xbox Game Pass to much confusion from some subscribers. Compulsion Games may be a first-party studio now, but when We Happy Few launched it was published by Gearbox. This means that Xbox just might have not renegotiated a deal on the title or perhaps Gearbox decided they didn’t want to continue to have the game on the service.
Quantum Break should not face this same type of challenge. As Xbox not only published Quantum Break, but it is common knowledge that they own the IP as well. Unless Xbox has struck some form of deal with Remedy for the ownership of the IP behind closed doors. Xbox should have primary control over this title. It seems bizarre that it is departing the service, it could perhaps be a glitch in the system. But that seems highly unlikely at this time. We will have to wait and see what the coming month holds for this title.
