What Is SPINMYTH?

For years, Evart Moughon, better known as Aspiring Spike, has been a familiar name within the Magic: The Gathering community. However, his latest endeavor takes him beyond playing card games and into creating one of his own. Alongside nine of his closest friends, Moughon established Glitzport, an independent game studio preparing to release its first tabletop RPG, SPINMYTH.

Combining traditional tabletop role-playing mechanics with cooperative deckbuilding, SPINMYTH aims to make the genre more approachable without sacrificing the strategic depth experienced players enjoy. With ten distinct character classes, hundreds of unique cards, and a Kickstarter campaign scheduled for December 1, 2026, Glitzport is preparing to introduce players to a new way of experiencing tabletop adventures.

A little over three years ago, Moughon and nine of his closest friends came together to establish Glitzport Studio. While the studio itself is relatively new to the public, its name carries a special meaning for Moughon. Glitzport was the first fictional town he ever set foot in during his tabletop gaming adventures. Now, that same name represents a creative endeavor that has been years in the making.

Rather than simply creating another tabletop RPG, the team wanted to take the genre’s familiar mechanics and reimagine how players interact with their characters, abilities, and the world around them. The result is SPINMYTH, a cooperative deckbuilding RPG that replaces much of the traditional character sheet experience with physical cards. Instead of constantly referencing lengthy lists of abilities during combat, players draw a hand of cards representing the actions available to their characters.

This approach is intended to make the game easier for newcomers to understand while providing experienced tabletop players with meaningful decisions, character customization, and encounters that can unfold differently from one session to the next.

SPINMYTH Combines Tabletop RPGs With Deckbuilding

At the heart of SPINMYTH is a character progression system built around deckbuilding. Players choose from ten distinct classes, each featuring its own cards, abilities, mechanics, and playstyles. As characters grow stronger, their decks evolve alongside them. Every character begins with a deck consisting of 21 level-one cards. Whenever a character levels up, three cards corresponding to that new level are added to their deck.

For example, reaching level two introduces three level-two cards, while reaching level three adds three level-three cards. These higher-level cards are generally more powerful, allowing characters to become increasingly capable as their adventures progress. However, there is an interesting tradeoff. As additional cards enter the deck, it becomes larger, potentially making it more difficult to draw specific abilities consistently.

This creates another layer of strategy as players must consider how their abilities complement one another rather than simply choosing the strongest cards available. Additionally, each class features its own collection of passive abilities organized into a branching skill tree. Players can specialize in a particular strategy to maximize its effectiveness or spread their choices across multiple areas to create a more versatile character.

Ten Classes With Different Ways to Play

One example Moughon highlighted during the announcement was the Strategist class. Designed primarily as a non-magical support character, the Strategist focuses on directing allies and helping the party overcome difficult encounters. Many of the class’s abilities are commands, identified by an exclamation point at the end of their names. Players can build their decks around these commands, creating a character dedicated to coordinating teammates and ensuring the group has the right tools for different situations.

Alternatively, players can incorporate offensive abilities and build a Strategist capable of dealing significant damage personally. This flexibility demonstrates one of SPINMYTH‘s central design philosophies. Even when two players select the same class, their individual builds can lead to substantially different gameplay experiences. With 10 classes and numerous branching progression paths, Glitzport hopes to give players plenty of opportunities to experiment with different combinations and discover strategies that suit their preferred playstyles.

Simplifying Character Sheets Without Sacrificing Depth

Traditional tabletop RPGs can sometimes overwhelm newcomers with extensive character sheets, numerous statistics, and complicated calculations. SPINMYTH attempts to streamline that experience by reducing its core character attributes to just four statistics. Those attributes are Prowess, Agility, Resilience, and Wit.

Prowess determines a character’s effectiveness when attacking and dealing damage. Agility provides additional energy, allowing players to use more cards during their turns. Resilience increases a character’s health points, while Wit determines how many cards a player can hold in their hand.

Interestingly, Agility, Resilience, and Wit also function as defensive statistics. When monsters attack, their abilities target one of these three attributes. Investing additional points into them makes characters more resistant to the corresponding attacks. Monsters utilize the same defensive system, creating a consistent set of rules for both players and enemies.

Outside combat, characters have access to nine additional skills designed to support exploration and role-playing interactions. These skills appear on the reverse side of the character card, allowing the essential information to fit onto a single double-faced card.

However, Glitzport recognizes that some tabletop enthusiasts prefer traditional character sheets. For those players, a larger, more familiar character sheet will also be available. By offering both options, the studio hopes to accommodate different preferences without forcing players to abandon the aspects of tabletop gaming they already enjoy.

Myth Masters, Monsters, and Exploration

Of course, a tabletop RPG needs someone to guide the adventure. In SPINMYTH, that responsibility falls to the Myth Master, the game’s equivalent of a traditional Game Master or Dungeon Master. Myth Masters can carefully construct encounters, selecting specific monsters and challenges for their players to overcome. Alternatively, they can embrace the randomness of card games and allow shuffled decks to determine what the party encounters.

The game includes 150 unique monster cards, each featuring artwork on one side and the creature’s statistics and abilities on the other. For Moughon, this approach makes managing encounters considerably more convenient. Rather than constantly referencing rulebooks or searching through notes, Myth Masters can keep the necessary monster information directly in front of them.

Monster cards can also be arranged in turn order and rotated after their actions are completed, providing a simple visual method of tracking combat.

Making Exploration More Interactive

Combat is only one part of the tabletop experience, and Glitzport is also introducing a system intended to make exploration more engaging. Rather than relying entirely on conventional travel descriptions and repeated skill checks, SPINMYTH features an exploration deck containing various minigames and challenges.

Myth Masters can shuffle these cards to introduce randomized events as players travel between locations. Alternatively, the cards can be arranged into a grid, creating a map that players navigate while progressing toward their objectives. This gives groups different ways to approach exploration depending on the type of adventure they want to experience.

The flexibility extends to campaign length as well. Players can enjoy standalone adventures during individual sessions or continue developing the same characters throughout an extended campaign. With 400 unique player cards, 150 monster cards, 100 items and equipment cards, and additional exploration content, SPINMYTH is shaping up to be an ambitious tabletop project. Moughon described the complete game as containing approximately 750 unique cards.

Glitzport Commits to Human-Created Artwork

One particularly noteworthy aspect of the announcement was Glitzport’s commitment to using human-created assets throughout SPINMYTH. Moughon emphasized that every piece of artwork, card frame, border, and other creative asset released for the game will be the product of human work rather than generative artificial intelligence.

The studio has already completed the initial game’s design and development work, including its gameplay systems and written content. However, producing the artwork for hundreds of individual cards remains a significant undertaking. Glitzport has begun hiring artists to help bring the project to life, but additional funding is necessary to complete production.

For players who value traditional illustration and the work of independent artists, this commitment may be another compelling reason to follow the project. It also helps explain why the studio is turning to crowdfunding despite having already completed much of the game’s underlying design.

SPINMYTH Kickstarter Launches December 1

Glitzport has confirmed that SPINMYTH will launch its Kickstarter campaign on December 1, 2026. The campaign aims to raise the additional funding necessary to complete the game’s artwork and production. Supporters will have the opportunity to back the project and effectively preorder its physical components, including class decks, monster decks, exploration decks, and other gameplay materials. Further details about the available preorder options are expected as the campaign approaches.

The studio has also outlined a broader roadmap leading toward the game’s release. During late 2026, selected groups will participate in invite-only testing sessions, providing focused feedback as Glitzport prepares for launch. Following the Kickstarter campaign, the studio is targeting Spring 2027 for the release of the complete tabletop game.

Beyond that initial release, Glitzport is considering additional campaigns, expanded setting development, and potential digital opportunities. Although digital tools are planned to assist with character creation and ongoing gameplay, they will remain entirely optional. Players will be able to experience the complete tabletop game without requiring digital assistance.

Those interested in following the project can visit the official SPINMYTH website, where they can sign up for development updates and join the game’s Discord community ahead of the Kickstarter campaign.

A New Chapter for Aspiring Spike and Glitzport

Something is exciting about seeing someone who has spent years enjoying and exploring card games take that experience and channel it into creating something new. I have watched Evart for years playing Magic and innovating in that space, which has made Magic more fun for me personally. So I am confident SPINMYTH is being developed by very capable hands!

For Evart Moughon and the rest of Glitzport, SPINMYTH represents more than three years of work toward bringing their vision of a cooperative tabletop RPG to life. Between its ten distinct classes, evolving deckbuilding mechanics, streamlined character sheets, and flexible approach to combat and exploration, the game has several ideas that could appeal to both tabletop veterans and newcomers. Its commitment to human-created artwork is another noteworthy aspect of the project.

With the Kickstarter campaign approaching on December 1 and a planned Spring 2027 release, the coming months will be important for Glitzport as the studio works to bring its first game to players. For anyone who enjoys deckbuilding games, cooperative adventures, or traditional tabletop RPGs, SPINMYTH is certainly a project worth keeping an eye on.
