Warframe: The Seven Crimes of Kullervo Impressions

When The Duviri Paradox came out a few months ago, it was an update both ambitious and buggy. It not only met my personal expectations of everything aside from the story. But exceeded in a few areas, such as the new Drifter melee, the flying horses, and Duviri’s unique vision. But of course, there were some bad bugs, like turning into your horse during the Orowyrm fight for example. That being said, there was some stuff missing from the update overall as well. Every single major Warframe content update always came with a new warframe and set of weapons. Half of that was missing, but The Seven Crimes of Kullervo fixes all of this.

The Seven Crimes of Kullervo would be out for a whole week and my journeys into Duviri have been more varied, and equally rewarding. As it not only added the latest warframe, but some new activities and made some changes that are very much welcome.

Kullervo and His Crimes

The star of the update is Kullervo, the 53rd Duviri-based warframe. He arrived with Duviri’s version of Ballas, who you need to talk to in order to initiate a fight against him. He is a warframe that was kept around Duviri but committed some acts of kindness and violence that Thrax imprisoned him for. Like killing someone that the executioner was supposed to, or whispering words of freedom into the ears of the children in Duviri. His story is not that deep. But it gets the job done and there is some excellent voice-over for the tablets near his cells.

Warframe Kullervo

In addition to his little story, you can farm resources from fighting him to use inside Warframe itself. The fight you initiate with him is something I have wanted in Duviri for a while, a genuine challenge. But sadly it was nerfed but not too terribly. I did and still do enjoy fighting him. The fight is hectic and he has a lot of health, even in Duviri’s normal mode. But once you farm him and his weapon, Rauta, you can enjoy all he has to offer for the game.

Kullervo is the first warframe to be centered around overguard. A shielding system that was introduced in Angels of the Zariman that made enemies impervious to crowd control and staggering. He can throw the knives stuck in his body to enemies around him and gain those benefits, while also being able to rain down knives from above for massive damage output when mixed with his ability to chain damage across multiple enemies. He is a very strong warframe overall and one that I can see becoming my favorite. Digital Extremes made his story compelling, the way to earn him is fair, and the payoff is well worth it.

Facelift for Duviri in Warframe

Duviri in Warframe got a nice shot in the arm with new content to enjoy. Outside of Kullervo’s Hold, they added some new secrets to Duviri. such as some data pads that give little bits of lore and some hints about where the story is heading. In a completely random cave, I found not only the answer to what Kuva, a mysterious resource in the game is. But also that one of the villains in Warframe is messing with Duviri constantly. It’s little touches that you have to go out of your way to find. But it helps to answer some burning questions Digital Extremes can not find the time to do properly.

On top of the additions of those secrets, somachords can be found so you can finally listen to music from Duviri in your orbiter. As well as some new and returning side activities. Such as an activity where you become an owl and find books or have to find some missing items in caves. As well as the return of Kaithe racing. This was an activity that had to be removed after day one of The Duviri Paradox due to technical issues. So it is pretty great to see its return, and the races are varied between ground and sky courses.

The Undercroft can now be entered in The Duviri Experience at will after collecting seven decrees. This will allow you to do some rounds against much harder enemies and hordes of eximus units for guaranteed arcane rewards. They also added a new Undercroft area that is spacious compared to the rest. You can also finally see what warframes and weapons are in Circuit or Duviri runs before going in. As well as being allowed to gain some guaranteed resources every day.

Resolved Technical Issues

The Duviri Paradox, like all Warframe updates had a lot of issues. Playing through the many runs in Duviri that I’ve done, I have noticed pretty much no issues anymore. No turning into a horse against the Orowyrm. No missions bugging out either. They also fixed the issue where if you entered the Undercroft while riding your Kaithe, the camera would be thrown from Duviri to the Undercroft starting area. It is now a seamless transition and I was not aware Digital Extremes was going to fix this minor, but annoying bug.

Warframe New Undercroft Zone

The Seven Crimes of Kullervo is a fantastic update for not only Warframe but The Duviri Paradox as well. So many issues were fixed with just the update alone. Duviri feels more alive and the optional Kullervo fight gives people a nice challenge. It is an update well worth checking out, you have nothing to lose since it is completely free.

The Seven Crimes of Kullervo is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam, Epic Games Store, and PlayStation 4|5.
