PAX East 2024 is finally here. The Lords from the Iron Lords Podcast and LOGNET are live once again on the show floor. One of the many games being previewed on the show floor this year is Sanctuary: Shattered Sun, a promising upcoming RTS.

Sanctuary: Shattered Sun Shines at Pax East 2024

Sanctuary: Shattered Sun looks like the spiritual successor to the formidable Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander series. The game was designed with accessibility in mind and to be inviting to players with different levels of familiarity with the genre. The developers have implemented a range of user-friendly features that make it easier for new players to dive into the game without compromising its depth of gameplay. The game’s camera will allow players to see the entirety of the battlefield.

The game is a large-scale real-time strategy game that brings new and unique features to the genre. It introduces mechanics like powerful superweapons that can crack the earth. Also, Sanctuary will feature dynamic weather control that can change the landscape of the map. In Sanctuary: Shattered Sun, you can freeze the ocean and lead your army across it to attack  enemy’s base.

Sanctuary‘s gameplay will no doubt cater to fans of classic real-time strategy games. It will incorporate elements like tech levels, a “flow” economy, central command units, and upgrades. However, developers Enhearten Media also strive to push the genre forward by introducing thrilling innovations such as drone swarms.

The game emphasizes macro-level strategy rather than micro-management. This allows you to concentrate on the broader aspects of the game by utilizing construction queues, customizable base templates that can be saved, and even issuing orders to units before they have completed their construction.

Release Date TBD

The game doesn’t have a definitive release date yet. But if the game piques your interest, be sure to wishlist it on Steam. You can also back the game on Kickstarter right here.
