Originally released on October 23rd, 2025, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is the ‘last’ traditional installment in the franchise before transitioning into the Action/RPG format Origins onward ran with. However, Ubisoft released a major update for Syndicate with the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Update

Ubisoft said the following regarding this major update;

Revisit the Assassin fantasy and take down your enemies more smoothly than ever on Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s free 60 FPS patch. Roam London’s streets in a whole new light and elevate your gaming experience with doubled framerate on Xbox Series X|S, PS5® and PS5® Pro. In addition, take a leap into a visually stunning experience thanks to 4K resolution on Xbox Series X, PS5® and PS5® Pro. Time to discover, or rediscover, this classic on new generation consoles through backwards compatibility!

Why Update the Game Now?

Considering this is releasing around the timeframe of Assassin’s Creed: Shadow’s original release date, one theory is that Ubisoft is releasing this update now to keep fans busy while they add the finishing touches on the latest installment.

Another thing worth considering is that this isn’t the only time Assassin’s Creed Syndicate got an update for modern platforms. A few years after the launch of Sony’s PlayStation 5, this title got an update to fix major graphical issues when playing Syndicate on PS5 consoles.

So it getting updated again shows how much Ubisoft values this specific Assassin’s Creed title. Or it could be ensuring it’s primed and ready for when Ubisoft’s unique platform for Assassin’s Creed game releases in the future.

Everything working correctly will help make that platform, not unlike the Call of Duty launcher for modern titles in that series, more appealing to players.

Closing Thoughts

I am always welcome to get updates that improve the overall experience. Ubisoft continuing the trend of making 60FPS updates for legacy Assassin’s Creed games for the latest hardware is fantastic.

The only other games left to receive this treatment are Unity and Black Flag, though the latter might not get one considering its upcoming remake in 2025.
