Announced at the Summer Xbox showcase in 2024, FragPunk is a stylish Hero Shooter with a few twists up its sleeve. The game is fully out on PC as of March 6th, 2025. The title performed admirably at launch peaking at a little over 113,000 players concurrently in its launch week on Steam. However, the game on consoles launch suffered a slight delay.
Additionally, players in the Xbox insider program were given access to check out FragPunk on Xbox during the beta. The game ran great, offering a 120fps performance option for both the series X and S. Adding another platform may be one of the reasons why the game got a console delay.
New Console Launch Date for FragPunk
The great news is NetEase Games announces a new release date for the console launch. Furthermore, NetEase states that FragPunk launch on PlayStation 5 alongside the Xbox Series X/S platforms. The new launch date for Fragpunk is April 29th, 2025.
As a reward for the players that have been patiently waiting for the console release, NetEase is offering bonus rewards. The rewards are a timed exclusive event, and a pioneer bundle with additional gifts. Other notable additions to FragPunk for the console release are cross-play and cross-progression with pc. This allows people who have already played on PC to take their progression to consoles offering a smooth transition. And the cross-play allows console players to play with the PC players. The other notable addition is Aim Assist for controllers. Which should give Mouse and Keyboard and Controller players an equal playfield.
A Bright Spot in a Flooded Genre
Fragpunk is an interesting idea on a flooded genre. The shard cards and the 1v1 fights are an interesting twist to the Hero Shooter formula. These makes for a match variety and moments that can not be found in other games.
