An Exciting Xbox Partner Preview Is On The Way

Xbox has quietly become one of the best curators of third-party game showcases in the industry, and this Thursday, March 26, the Xbox Partner Preview returns with what could be its most exciting lineup yet. Set to broadcast at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern across Xbox’s YouTube and Twitch channels, the show promises new looks at some highly anticipated titles, world premieres, and Game Pass announcements that could make a serious case for the service’s value. If past Partner Previews are any indication, the games we already know about are just the beginning.

The Headliners: Two Games That Could Define the Show

Stranger Than Heaven
  • Stranger Than Heaven is a brand-new standalone IP from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio set across three time periods in a stylized early 20th century Japan
  • The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a Mass Effect-style sci-fi RPG from Owlcat Games set in James S.A. Corey’s acclaimed sci-fi universe
  • It would be a tall order to secure either title as a Day One Game Pass release, but landing even one would be a massive win for the service

Stranger Than Heaven is completely separate from the Like a Dragon and Judgment franchises, following Detective Mako Daito across at least three distinct eras: 1915, 1929, and 1943. The setting is a noir-soaked Osaka rendered with rain-slicked streets, jazz clubs, and a visual fidelity that represents a serious leap for the studio. Executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama has said the game will differ entirely in both scale and gameplay from Like a Dragon, and the combat appears far more brutal and grounded. Survival mechanics tied to hunger, thirst, and social hostility levels hint at something darker and more systemic than anything RGG has made before. Everything here signals the studio swinging for its most ambitious project yet.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, from Owlcat Games—the studio behind the Pathfinder titles and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader—is shaping up to be a sweeping, choice-driven space RPG. The political intrigue, faction dynamics, and morally complex writing that define The Expanse as a property are exactly in Owlcat’s wheelhouse, and the early visuals suggest something stunning to match. This could be the sci-fi RPG Xbox fans have been waiting years for.

What Else Could Show Up?

Mixtape
  • Beethoven & Dinosaur’s Mixtape, Counterplay Games’ Armatus, and Supermassive Games’ Directive 8020 are all strong candidates to make an appearance
  • A S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl update from GSC Game World is already confirmed for the show
  • Past Partner Previews have consistently delivered surprise world premieres beyond the announced slate

Mixtape, the coming-of-age narrative game from Beethoven & Dinosaur set to a killer ’80s and ’90s soundtrack, looks due for one last showing before its imminent release. This game debuted at an Xbox Showcase so it would be fitting for it to get a big trailer before it’s debut in Game Pass. Armatus, Counterplay Games’ apocalyptic third-person roguelite set in a demon-overrun Paris, seems ripe for a deeper look after turning heads with its Steam Next Fest demo. With it also being a Game Pass title that debuted at a previous Partner Preview, I could see a confirmed release date in the cards. And Directive 8020—the sci-fi horror title from Supermassive Games—has been shrouded in intrigue, making this a great venue for a substantial showing.

The confirmed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 update could cover new content or a roadmap for one of last year’s most talked-about releases. But if history’s any guide, the real story might be the unannounced titles that walk away as the most-discussed moments of the show. Xbox Partner Previews have a reliable track record of over-delivering, and there’s every reason to expect Thursday is no different.

Xbox Partner Previews have earned a reputation for delivering more than expected, and March 2026’s edition has the bones of something special. Stranger Than Heaven and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn alone would make for a compelling show—but paired with the potential for surprise reveals and a Game Pass announcement or two, Thursday could shape up to be a genuine event. Set your alarms for 10am Pacific on March 26. This one’s worth watching live.
