There were rumors all week stating that PlayStation would not be attending E3 2020. This was met by many naysayers, saying that the company would return in order to show off the upcoming PlayStation 5 console. Today, rumors have been confirmed that PlayStation will not be attending E3 this year. In a report from Gamesindustry.biz, they confirmed that PlayStation will not have a presence at E3 for the second year in a row. A Sony spokesperson had this to say in regards to their absence from E3 this year.

“We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year.”

While PlayStation skipping E3 might be a disappointment to fans of the brand, they should not worry too much. PlayStation is focused on making the fans the focus of their 2020.

“We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content.”
