While August is just about to close its doors and make way for September. The endless game of price chicken between PlayStation and Xbox remains intact. At least for now, barring a miracle announcement during Gamescom we will likely be heading into September without knowing the price of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, due to a new update on the official PlayStation site. We may not have to wait too much longer for PS5 pre-order information.
PS5 Pre-Orders Incoming?
Today, on the official PlayStation 5 page you can officially register to become one of the first people to pre-order PS5. This registration will put you in a lineup so that you will be the first to know about PlayStation 5 preorders directly from Sony. It is important to note that this does not guarantee you a pre-order. As stated from the official page.
There will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation. Pre-order reservations will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis, so once you get an invite via email, we encourage you to follow instructions and act fast.
Demand for the PlayStation 5 will likely be high, with rumors of supply chain challenges circulating. Add this on top of the success that Sony found with the PlayStation 4, and you have a recipe for a big launch. An unfortunate thing that will likely come from this will be the amount of scalping we will likely see. Scalping in the online space has been getting out of control lately, and I don’t think this will change with the PS5.
