The Crown Tundra DLC Releases October 22nd
Almost a year after Pokémon Sword and Shield released, its second DLC, The Crown Tundra, releases on October 22nd. The announcement came today during The Pokémon Company’s brief, but informative, Direct. This DLC completes the first-ever Pokémon Expansion Pass after this summer’s Isle of Armor. Along with a release date, we got more concrete details on what will be in the second half of the Season Pass.
In addition to the Galarian Forms of the Legendary Birds, new Regi-Legendaries, and the cover Legendary, Calyrex, every past legendary Pokémon will come back. Everyone from the original Legendary Birds to last generation’s Island Guardians is coming in October. In addition to the Legendaries, other historic Pokémon like the Nidoran, Zubat, and the Aron evolutionary family are coming back.
Actual Pokémon aside, The Crown Tundra is also introducing Dynamax Adventures. Players will link with other players to explore caves, fighting Dynamax Pokémon along the way. Outside of the Crown Tundra in-game, we are also getting the Galarian Star Tournament. Players will choose a partner from the core game’s Gym Leaders, and fight in a doubles tournament against other main characters from the core game.
Pokémon GO will get Pokémon Home connection this year. Once established, Pokémon GO players can transfer Pokémon from the android app game to Sword and Shield. In addition, players will be able to get an exclusive Gigantamax Melmetal. Along with this special Melmetal, codes for special Pikachus are rolling out for download. These Pikachus have each of the Pokémon anime’s star, Ash Ketchum’s, hats throughout the series.
Finally, now that The Crown Tundra releases next month, the Season Pass will be complete. To celebrate, complete editions of Sword and Shield will release on November 6th, with the Season Pass included.
