Persona 5 Strikers – How to Change Characters

Compared to Persona 5 and Royal, Persona 5 Strikers has shaken up the tried and true formula dramatically. Instead of the turn-based combat, we know so well, Strikers ditches that in favor of hack n’ slash combat. Admittedly, despite initial reservations, the transition from turned-based to Musou has been comfortable. Dare I say, natural. As Strikers has managed to maintain the fast-paced, over the top and stylish brutality of the original game.

As Joker, you can expect to hop about, shredding waves of enemies to ribbons with your trusty knife. All to the tune of some kickass music, plenty of blood, and that famous Persona charm. Furthermore, combat in Persona 5 Strikers holds plenty of differences to set it apart. From the use of Personas, to master arts and All-Out Attacks, nearly the entire combat has received an overhaul. None, more apparent than in how the player can change party members.

How to Change Characters in Persona 5 Strikers

The ability to edit your party comes to the player a bit deeper into the story once you have already recruited Sophia. You can do this by heading into the main menu. Just like in past games, you can have four members at a time. Of course, this excludes the usual oracle character like Rise, Fuuka, or Futaba from past games. Simply select the four characters you want with you and each will find themselves assigned to a button on the d-pad.

Once this is done, jump back into a Jail and initiate a battle. Admittedly, the screen can be quite overwhelming. However, looking at the bottom left, you will see your active party members, each assigned a button. All you have to do is click the character’s corresponding direction to take control of them using a baton pass. This merely means control is switched from Joker to a different character. Lastly, you should make use of the Baton Pass on a somewhat regular basis. As those characters can receive certain buffs once used, so it’s important to give everyone a spin.
