Dark Horse Comics Acquired by Embracer Group

While the weather outside is frightful and gaming is so delightful. The holiday season seems to share a cozy spot near the fireplace with acquisition season. As notorious buyer Embracer Group has just acquired Dark Horse Comics, Dark Horse Entertainment, and Things From Another World.

What does the Dark Horse Acquisition mean?

Dark Horse collectively controls, has worked with, or owns 300 intellectual properties under their umbrella. This includes licensed titles from the Star Wars universe and Avatar: The Last Airbender. As well as films like The Mask, Timecop and Hellboy. They have also published multiple manga titles like the legendary Berserk series. Mike Richardson, the founder, and CEO had this to say about the acquisition:

I can’t express the excitement I feel as Dark Horse moves into this new chapter in our history. The synergies that exist with the Embracer network of companies  promises exciting new opportunities not only for Dark Horse, but also for the creators and companies we work with. I’ve had a number of compelling conversations with Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors and I’m very impressed with him and what he and his team have built. I have to say, the future for our company has never looked brighter.”

Bringing the current list of companies under Embracer Group up by five by names alone and thousands more employees to their roster.
