Over on the official PlayStation website, a new page can be found detailing the upcoming PS VR2 hardware. If you add a “2” to the PS VR URL it will bring you to the brand new PS VR2 website.
Currently, the page details everything we already know. All of the technology behind the headset, along with the new VR2 Sense controller. This includes the 120fps 4K HDR display with a 110-degree field of view. As well as headset technology like eye tracking and feedback. It is also reaffirmed again that the headset will connect to the PS5 with a single USB-C cable.
While the website tells us everything we know, this is a sign that news is coming soon. There is a strong possibility the headset will launch later this year. With that, it is just a matter of when it will launch. The headset could launch in the fall, around October like the first headset. This will allow for a launch prior to the holiday rush. Likewise, Sony could launch PS VR2 just before the holiday as it has done with nearly every console, including the PS5.
With a fall launch, it is likely we would see a longer State of Play-style event prior to May. This is where Sony could show the headset, price, and launch day. Along with showing off a collection of upcoming VR2 games. A PS VR2 launch around the holiday could mean a May or June State of Play event. Following the multitude of PS5 games coming this spring, we expect Sony to turn their focus to God of War and PS VR2.
